How do I know where I want to move to?
Determine what your particular needs are first before choosing a retirement community. Are you able to live independently without needing assistance with activities of daily living (ADL’S) such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation or medication distribution? In addition, ask yourself the following questions:
What city or neighborhood do I want to move or relocate to?
Is it close to family, friends, or activities (e.g., church, etc.) in which you would participate?
How much space do you need? Studio? One-bedroom? Two-bedroom?
Are your common spaces comfortable and inviting?
Courtyard Village prides itself in the comfort of the entire community. Our common spaces are open, bright, and project a feeling of being at home. We do not feel or look like a luxurious hotel or grand lobby.
Do you have access to the outdoors?
Yes, we have large beautiful courtyards which are ideal for relaxing, reading, visiting, or enjoying a concert.
Do you provide a space for family gatherings?
Yes, we have two spaces within the community whereby you may have family gatherings. Whether it be a birthday, anniversary celebration, or a family reunion, you may enjoy the space at no charge.
Are your employees friendly and helpful?
Yes, our employees are eager to help you to ensure you are comfortable and safe. Simply call or visit the Front Desk with questions or issues. We are staffed 24 hours a day for your convenience and safety.
Do you have kitchens within the apartment homes?
Yes, we have large and spacious kitchens equipped with a full-size refrigerator, oven, stove, and dishwasher, with exceptional counter and cupboard space.
Do you offer storage space?
Our apartment homes have large closet and storage spaces. In addition, we offer limited storage space for items you may use on occasion (e.g. luggage, holiday materials, etc.).
Do you allow pets?
Yes, we do allow small (under 12 pounds) pets and have rules and guidelines to ensure a happy community.
Do you allow smoking?
We are a non-smoking community. Smoking is not allowed in the apartment homes, in the common areas, or outside of the community. However, we do have a smoking section outside of the building for the convenience of residents and their guests who smoke.
What options do I have if my needs change?
Great question! There are options for you depending on your particular need(s). Whether it be coming out of rehabilitation because of an injury or illness or you simply require a higher level of care, know that you do have choices and options. These options include the following:
Remain within an independent community and hire a caregiver to help you with your particular need(s). This may be for a short-term or long term time period depending on your situation.
Move from independent living to foster care, assisted living, nursing care, or memory care community.
No matter what changes occur, we are here to help you when the need arises to ensure you not only get your questions answered, but you also ask the right questions when researching communities with a higher level of care.
