Testimonials

“Courtyard is a wonderful place to live” is certainly the common theme we hear over and over again from our residents. A light, bright, welcoming, and comfortable environment coupled with a variety of social programs are both attractive and desirable for our active independent seniors. “We wished we would have come here years ago!

"I have lived at the Courtyard Village for 8 years. I have my own flower garden. I enjoy all the activities and love the people!”

We’ve owned 3 houses over 61 years and don’t miss them at all. If you are going to give up your house, this is the place to be! No more taking care of the yard or anything. This is our home and we love it.

Michele [Life Enrichment Director] is fantastic. Also, if we ever have a problem, we simply call the Front Desk and we are taken care of. It’s wonderful!”

I’ve lived here for 12 years and I am very satisfied. The staff is wonderful! I love my apartment – it is like a small house. I enjoy meeting nice new people and meeting up with friends. I love the activities and the freedom to be able to come and go.

“The activities here and my interests are more than I can do. What is great about it [Courtyard] is the choices of activities and transportation.”

It is quite a traumatic event to sell your home of many years and move to a retirement home. I had friends here before I moved and have made good friends since I got here. I want to say it is the best move I could have made. What has been the driving factor are Michele [Life Enrichment Director] and Mike [Bus Driver]. They care so much about us and how to make us happy. Our trips are fabulous! They take good care of us: counting us, making us laugh to follow instructions, caring for people with walkers first, potty stops (essential for 80+ year olds), great lunch places, fun places to visit, new interesting stops – places we have never seen before even though we’ve lived in Oregon many years.

Michele works her tail off finding things for everyone to do: book clubs, meetings, moving, card games, and whatever anyone wants, she makes it happen. I am happy to be part of the Courtyard and the way the staff takes care of us.

My husband Frank and I were living in our own home when he was diagnosed with a serious illness. Because of the stairs in our home it was difficult for us to remain there. We came to look at Courtyard Village and “fell in love with it, it’s the people, they’re so warm and friendly”. When we saw the library we knew this was the place for us. Our home was filled with books and we had to find a home for most of them, but moving into Courtyard with the wonderful library really helped.

We love that we can choose to participate as much or as little as we want “It’s just plain fun”. If you’re looking for friends, they’re easy to come by. We love playing Trivia, it’s not a matter of having the right or wrong answer, it’s the laughter we all have while playing.

Now that Frank’s treatments are complete we could leave but we think about leaving and ask;

Do we need to stay—NO ! Do we want to stay—YES !

How do I like it here at Courtyard Village ? Marvelous, Marvelous, Marvelous!

I thought I was too young to be in a retirement community; “not for me for at least another ten years”.

I was living in Arizona; I loved the warmth, the sun, my church and my friends. Then I had a stroke and knew I would need to make a change as it was difficult for my son Mike and his wife Eulila to travel from Vancouver to Arizona to help me.

I made a decision that I was going to be happy; I know life could be one way or the other; my decision was for happiness.

My daughter-in-law brought me to see Courtyard Village and as soon as I met Laurie the Marketing Director and she showed me an apartment, I knew could see all my special things fitting in; I made my decision right then and there. I love my kitchen, I’m not ready to give up cooking, I can cook as much or as little as I want.

I’m finding new things to do and will be writing for the monthly newsletter; we’ll be featuring the wonderful people who live here. Everyone has a story and I want to write about them.

Courtyard Village is a happy friendly place where a spirit of camaraderie is promoted, but, privacy is also respected.  Over the ten years that I’ve lived here, I’ve made many dear friends.  The food is better than I can cook for myself and there is never a lack of activities.  I always feel safe and secure with friendly staff to help me if I need it.  Courtyard is surely “easy livin’”.  I’m glad I came here when I did.
